Nakagami quickest in Free Practice 1

Takaaki Nakagami was fastest as Moto2™ ended its summer break with Free Practice 1 for the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. The Italtrans Racing Team rider led from NGM Mobile Racing’s Mattia Pasini and Technomag carXpert’s Dominique Aegerter.

On an overcast morning at the world-famous Motor Speedway, Nakagami topped the timesheets with his best effort of 1’44.518, edging out Pasini by two tenths of a second. Behind third-placed Aegerter, the top five was completed by Pasini’s teammate Simone Corsi and MotoGP™-bound Pol Espargaro (Tuenti HP 40). Championship leader Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) finished the morning in ninth position, having jumped up from 11th in the closing minutes of the session.

American James Rispoli began his weekend as a wildcard with GPTech, finishing 31st in the 33-rider field which was completed by Thailand’s Thitipong Warokorn; competing with Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2, he replaces retired compatriot Ratthapark Wilairot.

The second Moto2™ session will commence at 3:05pm local time (GMT -4).
