No pre-Silverstone operation for Salom

Following a medical revision in Palma de Mallorca on Monday, it has been decided that Moto3™ championship leader Luis Salom will not undergo surgery prior to this weekend’s Hertz British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider, who won last weekend’s race at Brno, had suffered a fractured left heel in a large highside accident during qualifying for the preceding Indianapolis Grand Prix. Following an MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) scan in his home city of Palma, it was revealed that the bone fractured in the United States has not been subject to any additional movement.

After another check-up when he arrives at Silverstone, Salom will undergo further medical examination in order to verify the evolution of the fracture and then take any necessary action. Although he is unable to walk without the aid of crutches, the 22-year-old has been able to defend his championship lead and is 14 points ahead of season-long rival Maverick Viñales of Team Calvo.
