Pedrosa fifth on grid after qualifying error

Dani Pedrosa has revealed that he made a mistake during qualifying at Silverstone on Saturday, hence the reason why he could manage no more than fifth place.

While teammate Marc Marquez scorched to his fifth pole position of the season, Pedrosa appeared to languish a worrying nine tenths of a second adrift, but has explained why the eventual gap to the front was much larger than expected.

"I lost the front on my last lap, so I couldn’t improve," the Repsol Honda Team rider told motogp.com during a video interview. "This track is so long (the longest on the calendar), so you don’t have time for many laps and one mistake means time will run out. We will have to be strong and go fast every lap; it looks like the pace is quite quick, so we will just try to do a good start and have a good race."

Pedrosa is yet to win the British Grand Prix since he claimed victory at Donington Park in his debut premier class campaign of 2006. He heads into Sunday’s race second in the standings and trailing rookie teammate Marquez by 26 points.
