Viñales fastest as times fall in Great Britain

Maverick Viñales has topped the timesheets in final Moto3™ practice for the Hertz British Grand Prix, held at Silverstone on Saturday morning. It was a bright start to the day in England as the Team Calvo rider led championship leader Luis Salom and Estrella Galicia 0,0 teammates Alex Rins and Alex Marquez.

It has been over 14 months since Moto3 first visited Silverstone and, also thanks to improved weather conditions this year, there has been a dramatic tumbling in the lap times. This morning, the best from Viñales – who won the 2012 race ahead of Salom – was 2’14.003, which is over two seconds faster than the quickest lap of last season. On this occasion, Salom (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was four tenths of a second slower, while behind the Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders the top six was rounded out by Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3’s Jonas Folger and Ongetta-Rivacold’s Alexis Masbou.

The action will resume with Qualifying from 12:35pm local time (GMT +1).
