Another fifth place for Alvaro Bautista

Another fifth place for Alvaro Bautista

Once again, Alvaro Bautista found himself battling with Valentino Rossi in the Hertz British Grand Prix. In another repeat of recent history, the GO&FUN Honda Gresini rider would again find himself finishing behind the Italian and in fifth position.

The Silverstone result marked the fourth top five finish of 2013 for Spaniard Bautista, who enjoyed strong race pace from eighth position on the grid. This came only seven days after his previous duel with the multiple World Champion at Brno.

“Unfortunately, once again I have had to concede to Valentino, but we had a lot of fun out there,” Bautista commented. “The last lap was really nice because we overtook each other several times, but unfortunately I couldn't make it stick and he beat me by just 0.065 seconds!

“That's a shame but I am happy anyway because I have improved my feeling with the bike again here; we were able to make up a lot of ground at the start of the race and confirm our recent good form again. We just need to take another little step to be even more competitive, but it is coming. Hopefully we can have another nice race in the next Grand Prix at Misano, the team's home race.”

Bautista now heads to Misano with the knowledge that he picked up his first premier class podium finish at the track last year. Incidentally, he has now jumped ahead of Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso for seventh place in the Riders’ Championship.
