Rabat jumps ahead of Nakagami at Misano

Tito Rabat has thrown another variable into the mix ahead of Moto2™ qualifying at Misano, beating weekend pace-setter Takaaki Nakagami to the top spot in final practice. Behind, title contender Pol Espargaro ended Saturday morning inside the top three, two places in front of rival and championship leader Scott Redding.

As a pair of Tuenti HP 40 bikes made the top three, Rabat’s lap time of 1’37.835 missed the Misano track record for the intermediate class by just seven thousandths of a second. This left Nakagami (Italtrans Racing Team) in second place, having topped both sessions on Friday before bruising a foot in a late highside crash.

With Johann Zarco fourth for Came Iodaracing Project, Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) was fifth and just over half a second off the leading pace. Tom Luthi was sixth for Interwetten Paddock Moto2 Racing, while the top ten was rounded out by reigning Moto3™ World Champion Sandro Cortese of Dynavolt Intact GP. Axel Pons, teammate to Rabat and Espargaro, crashed 12 minutes before the end of the session.

Moto2™ Qualifying will be underway from 3:05pm local time (GMT +2).
