Viñales fastest in morning Warm-Up

Maverick Viñales set the pace as Moto3™ kicked off the Sunday action at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The Team Calvo rider led Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Alex Rins and Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3’s Jonas Folger, the pole-sitter.

On Saturday, Folger’s pole time had come in the shape of 1’42.707. This morning’s best effort from Viñales was 1’43.680, amid cooler conditions. He was less than a tenth of a second quicker than Rins, with Folger a further one and a half tenths in arrears as championship leader Luis Salom (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Miguel Oliveira (Mahindra Racing) rounded out the top five. In 26th place was Twelve Racing wildcard Luca Marini, the half-brother of Valentino Rossi, while Italian national championship leader Andrea Locatelli finished higher up and 22nd for Mahindra Racing.

With Folger heading up the front row from Rins and Viñales, the Moto3™ GP Aperol di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini will begin at 11am local time (GMT +2); it will be decided over the course of 23 laps.
