Aleix Espargaro top CRT for 2013

Aleix Espargaro top CRT for 2013

For the second consecutive year, Aleix Espargaro has emerged as the top rider equipped with CRT machinery in MotoGP™. The Power Electronics Aspar rider sealed the feat by finishing 11th at Phillip Island on Sunday.

Ironically, Espargaro became the overall CRT winner but was beaten by teammate Randy de Puniet for the first time this season.

"I feel very happy," says the Catalan, who finished one place behind de Puniet. "Today we got our reward for a year of excellent results. We have always been close to the factory bikes and, with the few points we usually pick up, to win the CRT ‘championship’ with two races to go means that we have done things very well.

"This title is a huge prize for the team and for me. Since I joined the Power Electronics Aspar Team I have never stopped growing as a rider. I have had the best parts and bike around in the CRT class and we have been the complete package.

"Today Randy also did a great job, so I congratulate him."

Espargaro’s plans are yet to be confirmed for next season, whereas Aspar confirmed on Thursday that it will run Honda Production Racer bikes with former World Champion Nicky Hayden for at least the next two years.
