Miller undergoes collarbone surgery in Spain

Having topped the Moto3™ test session in Jerez at the end of last week, Australia’s Jack Miller has now undergone surgery on his right collarbone in Barcelona.

Miller sustained the collarbone fracture in a Lap 4 crash during last year’s Moto3™ Indianapolis Grand Prix. On Thursday, the injury was attended to by Doctors Xavier Mir and Victor Marlet at the Quiron Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona.

The procedure, which ended shortly after 6pm local time (GMT +1) on Thursday, involved a changing of the plate attached to Miller’s right collarbone, as well as reinforcing the damaged bone. Miller will now require six weeks of recovery.

For 2014, Miller – who hails from Townsville on Australia’s north-eastern coast of Queensland – is expected to be a title challenger in Moto3™, having joined the Aki Ajo-run Red Bull KTM Ajo squad alongside Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup winner Karel Hanika.
