Ezpeleta presents at SPONSORs Motorsport Summit

Monday, 3 December 2012

Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta attended last Friday’s SPONSORs Motorsport Summit in Essen, Germany, where he presented an in-depth look into MotoGP™ to the who's who in the motorsport business sector on the Press and Trade Visitor Day of the Essen Motor Show.

As well as delving into the current set-up of the championship, Ezpeleta focused heavily on the future of MotoGP and the philosophy it follows. Amongst this was the continual drive to increase the racing spectacle whilst reducing costs, which was highlighted with the introduction of a mandatory ECU provided by the event organizers for all teams from 2014. He also stated that the continual drive for technological progress was by no means being stifled, with the fuel limit also dropping by a further litre at the same time as the ECU introduction.

The Spaniard went on to cover MotoGP’s ground-breaking television coverage, with High Definition OnBoard footage and high-speed trackside cameras being just part of the package that Dorna produces. And giving viewers piece of mind that the racing will continue to be the action-packed event the fans and viewers seek, Ezpeleta detailed some of the existing and future emerging talent of the championship from the lower classes.

Part of the presentation was also the inclusion of the FIM World Superbike Championship under the umbrella of Dorna, and how the two will run in harmony alongside each other and play off each other’s strengths in seasons to come.
