Alvaro Bautista enjoyed a positive opening day to the Hertz British Grand Prix weekend, finishing fourth quickest in opening practice. However, the Spaniard hopes for less of a rough ride on Saturday.

Bautista is a keen fan of the Northamptonshire circuit, not least as he enjoyed pole position last year, although he was less than 100% satisfied at the end of Friday.

“For sure, it is a track I like a lot, but I feel like it is too bumpy this year,” the GO&FUN Gresini Honda rider explained to motogp.com during a video interview. “Maybe it is because the Formula 1 race has happened more recently – I feel too many bumps on the track surface.

“Anyway, I am happy with the first day, even though I have had many rear grip problems like at the last races, not able to open the gas when I want to. We tried different settings this afternoon to improve the problem, but we still haven’t found any solution. We will try some more ideas we have tomorrow.”

With seven events remaining in 2013, Bautista lies eighth in the Riders’ Championship but only four points in arrears of Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso.
