Jerez day two sees Hayden on top

Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso was sidelined for the second day running as a reoccurring neck strain left him unable to head out on track for some much-needed time with his new Desmosedici. This meant that the majority of testing work was left to his teammate Nicky Hayden, who continued his evaluation of the two new chassis, swingarm, and electronics. Despite a small crash in the morning, where he walked away unscathed, he posted the best time of 1.40’090.

Pramac Racing Team’s Andrea Iannone was once again out on track familiarising himself with his satellite Ducati, focussing predominantly on bike geometry to find the most comfortable riding position. He set a best time of 1.40’989, while Ducati Test rider Michele Pirro, substituting for the injured Ben Spies, set a pace of 1.41’265.

The Avintia Blusens team saw Héctor Barberá get some quality time with his BQR-FTR bike as the Spaniard also set about dialling in the chassis to his riding style. Despite not receiving an engine upgrade until the test in Sepang in February, Barberá was pleased with the bike’s rideability and was positive about the future. He set a best time of 1.42’507, whilst his teammate Hiroshi Aoyama was working on familiarising himself with his machine, posting a time of 1.41’975. At the end of the day, Barberá also put in some laps on the team’s part-carbon Inmotec chassis.
