Moto2™ outfit Tech3 Racing has announced that Alex Mariñelarena will be its second rider for the 2014 campaign, with Danny Kent moving elsewhere despite it having previously been announced that he would stay put next year.

2013 is proving to be a trying season for the French outfit, which continues to learn and develop its Mistral 610 machine. At the end of August, it had been announced that Kent would remain with the team for 2014, although the agenda has now changed.

Tech3 has announced via a press release that it ‘remains fully committed and determined to helping Kent achieve the best results possible before he moves on to seek a fresh challenge next season.’ In the meantime, the new line-up has been completed for next season:

Joining the passionate and highly respected Tech3 Racing outfit for 2014 will be Spanish rider Alex Mariñelarena, who will partner German Marcel Schrotter.’

Spain’s Mariñelarena scored his first points last time out at MotorLand Aragón, finishing 14th for Blusens Avintia, whereas German Schrotter – currently competing with Maptaq SAG Zelos Team – has been a front row starter this season, at Mugello. His best race finishing position to date is tenth place, in the Spanish GP at Jerez, and his 2014 switch to Tech3 was confirmed on Saturday.

For the departing Kent, he continues to assess his options with regards to the 2014 season.

‘So guys, it’s been released that I will be leaving Tech3 Moto2 team at the end of this year!’ Englishman Kent posted on Twitter. ‘Hope to have some good results to the end of the year. (I want to) say thanks to the team! I do have several offers in the GP paddock, hopefully news on future soon! Thanks for all the support!’
