MCN: Suzuki planning five tests with MotoGP™ bike
Suzuki hopes to run a 1000cc bike in no less than five MotoGP™ test sessions across 2013, according to Motorcycle News. The Japanese manufacturer last competed in the sport as a full factory entrant in 2011.
The article explains that three of the tests are set to occur alongside other teams, with the remaining two taking place in private circumstances. Suzuki could then return to MotoGP full-time with two bikes in 2014, which is the year it had pinpointed as an earliest possible comeback season upon departing one and a half years ago.
‘While there is no approval for a return at board level yet, Suzuki’s race department is pressing on with its new 1000cc project, which is currently being extensively tested and developed by former racer Nobuatsu Aoki,’ the article reads, adding that Aoki has confirmed that a new machine - complete with a new engine and chassis - was unveiled in February.
The mid-June test at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya has been pinpointed for a possible bike debut, which could take place with Randy de Puniet at the helm.
