Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3 improving at Almeria test

Tuesday, 4 December 2012

Mapfre Aspar Team Moto3’s Jonas Folger and new signing Eric Granado are progressing well at their three-day test in Almeria, Spain.

Folger went through a raft of part and set-up changes in his Kalex chassis including pivot, link and fork among many things. Granado on the other hand continued his work getting used to the new bike for him. Both riders suffered a crash throughout the day, yet neither was hurt. Folger set a 1.40’90 after 40 laps, and Granado a 1.43’40 after 51.

Jonas Folger

"Although I had a crash one hour after starting, today was quite a positive day. Today we tried everything from a pivot, to a link, several positions of the front fork, and developments in the clutch. Later in the day we returned to the setting we like. The tests have not been as productive as expected, but at least we could rule out a lot of things for the future. Tomorrow we will continue with the configuration that we assembled at the last minute today, and we'll try hard, to see where we can improve our lap."

Eric Granado

"Today we continued lapping on the Almeria circuit, to learn the Kalex, a motorcycle totally new to me. We have not tested any specifics because we are still in the process of adaptation, but I'm happy because we improved from the first day. Thanks to the team, I am gradually understanding the feeling with this new bike. The pity is that I crashed at three in the afternoon and I had to stop the day early. Fortunately I'm OK and ready to go to work tomorrow."
