Moto2™ championship leader Scott Redding will temporarily exchange two wheels for four as he drives Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit in a BMW M3 GT4 this weekend.

The Marc VDS Team Rider will sample the former MotoGP™ venue in a 420BHP car weighing just 1,430kg and powered by a five-litre V8 engine. The car will be supplied by BMW Motorsport and 20-year-old Redding will receive expert instruction from experienced driver coach Martin Scheiff.

“There was no way I was going to pass up a chance like this,” Redding declares. “To be honest, I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. The car weighs next to nothing and produces around 420BHP, so it's a bit different to the Caddy van I normally knock about in.

“Learning a track doesn't take me that long on a bike, but I suspect it will be a bit harder behind the wheel of a car as the lines will be completely different and the car itself is about ten times wider than my Moto2 bike - and then there's Raidillon corner...”

Back in the more familiar surroundings of Moto2™, Redding has won twice so far this season and after six races leads Spain’s Pol Espargaro by 35 points.
