Texas poised to welcome MotoGP™ regulars

Friday, 8 March 2013

The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas will play host to a private MotoGP™ test as three teams head to the venue next week. Repsol Honda Team is to be joined by Yamaha Factory Racing and LCR Honda MotoGP between Tuesday and Thursday.

Although a handful of CRT wildcard riders sampled the anti-clockwise track in mid-February, next week will mark the first time the likes of World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa and Stefan Bradl have taken to the American tarmac. It will then become a new addition to the MotoGP calendar this April.

Having witnessed poor conditions at the first pre-season test - which took place in Valencia shortly after the 2012 campaign ended - rookie Marc Márquez now looks forward to the challenge of dry track time at a setting other than Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit.

Weather can be changeable in the Austin area and forecasters are predicting rain for this weekend, but that is expected to be replaced by bright sunshine and blue skies by the time testing begins. Regular videos, in the form of highlights and rider interviews, will be available on motogp.com as well as special behind-the-scenes features.
