Vital Malaysia test sets up Ioda for next round
A very hot and humid day closed the first MotoGP™ Official Test of the 2013, with the Came IodaRacing Team development plan continuing right until rain stopped play.
In the morning, Lukas Pesek went 24th fastest with a 2.05’321 after 40 laps, 5.221s from Pedrosa. He continued set-up work with his Ioda-Suter BMW and was feeling more comfortable by the end of his session. The afternoon belonged to Danilo Petrucci who did 34 laps to finish 20th with a 2.04’531, 4.431s from Pedrosa’s best time.
The team had been running only one ECU, with the riders having to share its usage throughout the five days they had. Running on last year’s chassis, the team expects to be running an upgraded 2013 bike based on the data collected at the test at the next outing in Sepang.
Danilo Petrucci
"On the last day we have focused our work on the development of the new ECU, but the rain ruined in part our plans. At the end of these five days I’m quite happy with the new arrival of the Magneti Marelli ECU that, after some little problem at the beginning, showed to have good potential. From the next test we will see great improvements. In two weeks we will come here again and we will have the Ioda-Suter 2013 with a new chassis developed with the data collected in these days.”
Lukas Pesek
"I’m quite happy today because we have improved our lap time a lot. I like my Ioda-Suter very much, I have a good feeling with it, but I need to do more kilometres to understand it in a better way. I’m very happy to work with my chief crew again, the same as in my 125cc years, we have a good feeling, and in this way it’s easy to work and improve faster. I want to say thank you to all the team for their great job and also to Giampiero Sacchi and Came for the great opportunity that they have given me.”
