Injured Bagnaia striving to race at Losail

Friday, 22 March 2013

Despite the Jerez testing accident which has left him with a fractured arm, Francesco Bagnaia will try all he can to race in Qatar’s Moto3™ season-opener.

The San Carlo Team Italia rookie has suffered a difficult start to his debut campaign, having crashed on his last lap of the last pre-season test. As a result, the Italian picked up a compound fracture of the left radius and was forced to return home prematurely.

“I have already started the necessary rehabilitation therapy,” he explains. “I am optimistic about the possibility of getting back on-track by as early as Qatar; I’ll know more in a week. This is an unfortunate incident, but these things happen and I can’t wait to get back to work with the team and fight with our rivals.”

Time is arguably not on the side of the 16-year-old, as practice for the season-opening night race at Losail will take place in just a fortnight’s time.
