Cal Crutchlow led the way as Free Practice 3 took place at Brno on Saturday morning. The Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider finished ahead of Jorge Lorenzo and championship leader Marc Marquez, as the initial running order for qualifying was decided by combined times.

The best time may have been some four tenths of a second down on Lorenzo’s of last year, but Crutchlow topped the timesheets this morning with his leading effort of 1’56.156. This edged out Yamaha Factory Racing’s Lorenzo by a tenth and a half, with Repsol Honda Team’s Marquez improving at the start of the second day to within just four hundredths of Lorenzo. Lorenzo’s teammate Rossi was fourth ahead of LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl, down to fifth on the combined classification after leading the way at the end of Friday. Incidentally, both Bradl and sixth-placed Dani Pedrosa’s best overall times came from the second session on Friday afternoon.

The final four riders confirmed to be heading directly to Q2 are Alvaro Bautista (GO&FUN Honda Gresini), Bradley Smith (Tech3) and Ducati Team duo Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden, fresh from their final lap duel at Indianapolis last Sunday. As has been the case since the start of 2013, the two quickest riders in Q1 will join those ten to make up the top 12 shootout for pole position this afternoon. Lead CRT representative so far is Aleix Espargaro (Power Electronics Aspar), placed 12th overall behind Energy T.I. Pramac Racing’s Andrea Iannone who suffered a sizeable accident and much bike damage during the third practice session.

Ignite Pramac Racing’s Ben Spies remains out of action this weekend, while Austrian wildcard Martin Bauer ended third practice in 23rd place with his privately-entered Remus Racing Team. Local Czech favourites Karel Abraham and Lukas Pesek were 22nd and 25th fastest for Cardion AB Motoracing and Came IodaRacing Project, respectively. Following fourth and final practice which has no bearing on the afternoon running order, Qualifying will begin at 2:10pm local time (GMT +2).
