Moto2™ rider Mike di Meglio will be on the sidelines for at least a month, following a crash in Sunday’s Czech Grand Prix at Brno.

Having lost control of his JiR Moto2 machine at Turn 3, the helpless de Meglio was struck by the Argiñano & Gines Racing bike of Alberto Moncayo in a three-way collision that also saw Maptaq SAG Zelos Team’s Marcel Schrotter retire.

JiR Moto2 released the following statement on Sunday evening:

‘Following the further medical investigations held on Mike di Meglio at Brno’s hospital, doctors have confirmed that his situation is comfortable, although they have found a compound fracture to his coccyx that will require the Frenchman to not ride for 30 days. He is now hospitalized in Brno’s hospital where he will be kept under observation for the whole night.

Although suffering pain, Mike keeps his morale up and the whole JiR Team send him their best wishes for a full and quick recovery. The same wishes go to the Italian rider Claudio Corti, who arrived at Brno’s hospital right after di Meglio following the crash he had in the MotoGP™ class race.’

The accident is the latest happening in a difficult season for the 125 World Champion of 2008, whose best 2013 result to date is seventh at Le Mans in mid-May.
