Honda tests production model for first time

Monday, 27 May 2013

Honda has successfully completed the first test of its production racer, the bike to be offered to private MotoGP™ entries from the start of the 2014 season.

The machine, which is yet to be officially named and will be officially unveiled by the end of this year, is currently running slightly behind schedule but has made a positive on-track debut in the hands of the test rider. The bike was in action at the Twin Ring Motegi in Japan for two days, on Thursday and Friday of last week.

“The test results showed more than what we had expected, in particular with its running performance,” comments HRC’s Shuhei Nakamoto. “We are very pleased at this stage and we will announce more in the not too distant future.”

A full interview on the new Honda production racer was carried out last week, as motogp.com spoke with HRC Executive Vice President Shuhei Nakamoto.
