Moto2™ championship leader Scott Redding has led the pre-race Warm-Up session ahead of the Hertz British Grand Prix. On a chilly morning in Northamptonshire, the Marc VDS Racing Team rider led from fellow front row starters Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami, with the latter starting this afternoon’s race from pole.

With lower temperatures for both air and track, the leading lap time was over six tenths of a second off pole, with Redding posting 2’07.689. Championship rival Pol Espargaro (Tuenti HP 40) suffered a tough time, crashing at Farm curve on his out-lap and managing only three laps late on. There was also a fall for Zarco, who lowsided his Came Iodaracing Project machine at the end of the session.

A multiple collision took place after the chequered flag. While riders were slowing to perform practice starts at the top of the Hangar Straight, Dani Rivas (Blusens Avintia) appeared to collect Argiñano & Gines Racing’s Steven Odendaal and both were taken to the Medical Centre for further examination. Also involved but able to walk away from the incident were Xavier Simeon (Maptaq SAG Zelos Team) and Jordi Torres (Aspar Team Moto2). It was soon confirmed that Spain’s Rivas and South Africa’s Odendaal will be missing the race, with the former heading to hospital for a CT scan and the latter having suffered a broken right ankle in the collision.

The Moto2™ race will begin at 11:20am local time (GMT +1).
