Valentino Rossi can still succeed in winning Grands Prix this year, according to new Crew Chief Silvano Galbusera who at the post-Valencia GP test began working with the nine-time World Champion for the first time.

"I still don’t quite understand why I was chosen by Valentino Rossi," Galbusera admits during an interview with, "but I will work day and night to prepare a bike that will enable him to enjoy confidence once again."

Explaining how the partnership came to be, with Rossi having elected to part company with long-time Crew Chief Jeremy Burgess, Galbusera continues: "It was totally unexpected. During the three-way ‘flyaway’ races in October I was contacted by Valentino, who asked me to wait before deciding anything because he wanted to talk to me. Then we agreed to it before the last race in Valencia.

"I firmly believe that Rossi is still competitive. It will require a leap of two to three tenths per lap, but that is hoping Lorenzo and Marquez don’t make a further step forward. On paper, it would seem that Marc can only improve whereas Jorge is already giving it his maximum. To date, Valentino has never felt completely comfortable on this bike and that prevents you from giving it that extra mile."
