Mariñelarena out of induced coma

Mariñelarena out of induced coma

Alex Mariñelarena has woken up from an induced coma on Wednesday, less than one week after suffering an accident during a private test session at Paul Ricard in France.

After suffering the accident at the southern French venue last Friday, the Tech3 Moto2™ rider was transported to the Saint-Anne hospital in Toulon and placed into the coma in order to assist the recovery process.

As a result of the crash, Mariñelarena was briefly knocked unconscious before waking up and speaking with trackside personnel, after which he was taken to hospital and placed into the induced coma.

Tech3 now reports that the 21-year-old rider has movement in his arms and legs and has already spoken with doctors.

More updates on Alex Mariñelarena’s condition will follow in due course.
