The FIM CEV Repsol 2014 fires up at the Circuit of Jerez

The wait is over. This Friday, April 4, at the Circuit of Jerez, the FIM CEV Repsol 2014 starts off, with the participation of 137 riders in the four categories making up the championship: Moto3™, Moto2™-Superstock 600, Superbike-SBK privateers and the Kawasaki Z Cup. The schedule consists of eight meetings at some of the most prestigious circuits in the world.

In Moto3, no fewer than 46 riders, representing fourteen nationalities at the controls of many different machines (to date there are ten different manufacturers), will start their FIM CEV Repsol 2014 season at the same venue where the young Fabio Quartararo was proclaimed champion last year. The Frenchman, with another year of experience under his belt, has to hold off the challenge of over forty young riders taking their place as the rookies of the season.

In Moto2, 36 riders have confirmed their attendance, with no clear favourite as yet. After seeing Ramos, Mariñelarena and Syahrin head off to the World Championship, all options are still on the table regarding the possible future champion. The 600 Superstock riders will share the same track, but compete for their own podium.

Superbike will feature 35 riders, including some familiar faces. With the reigning champion absent, contenders Morales and Silva (2013 runner-up and third-placed rider respectively) will have to fight it out against some tough opponents. In addition, there will be a second general standing for privateer riders.

Free practice will be held on Friday, with timed and qualifying practice sessions beginning on Saturday at 9:30AM. Sunday is reserved for racing - the schedule is as follows:

• 11:00 Moto3 (16 laps)
• 12:00 Superbike (17 laps)
• 13:00 Moto2/Superstock 600 (17 laps)
• 14:00 Moto3 (16 laps)
• 15:00 Kawasaki Z Cup (16 laps)
