Bradl bounces back with fourth at COTA

After his dramatic DNF at Qatar LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl had a better weekend in Texas at round two, qualifying on the front row and bringing it home in fourth.

Bradl battled with Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso and Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Bradley Smith in the latter stages of the 21 lap Circuit of the Americas race and eventually finished in between that pair, unable to overcome Dovizioso for a podium finish due to some front tyre issues.

“First of all this race was a bit strange because of the jump-start of Jorge Lorenzo and in the beginning I struggled a bit to find my pace,” stated the German. “I had to battle with Valentino Rossi and the Ducati riders in the first laps and it took me some time to get out of that to find my speed.”

“After that I pushed on but we had a big problem with the front tyre as it dropped down too fast. I had to slow down and it was impossible for me to catch Dovizioso. The tyre performance throughout the weekend was good but in the race we had a problem and I think it’s the same for many riders right now. I could almost taste the podium and it’s difficult to accept the defeat but we can be happy anyway because we did a very good job.”
