Bradl reviews opening Argentina practice sessions

Stefan Bradl used his prior knowledge of the Termas de Rio Hondo track to slot himself into the top five for LCR Honda on Friday.

The German rider, who crossed the line in fourth place last time out in Austin, is determined to produce another strong result at the Gran Premio Red Bull de la Republica Argentina this weekend – having had the benefit of a short test at the new venue last year.

Bradl was seventh in FP1 but an improvement of over three seconds in the later session saw him end the day fourth on the timesheet as the overall pace quickened significantly.

However, Bradl was hoping for a cleaner track on Friday and explained that his team found it hard to make set-up improvements due to the conditions encountered.

He stated, “The conditions are similar to when we tested here, but now there are many more riders here so it is definitely improving a lot faster. Unfortunately it wasn’t in a good condition from the beginning so we lost some tyres as we do three or four laps and then we cannot improve the setting or improve the electronics. In the end in the afternoon though things got a bit better.”

Regarding his tactics for Saturday, he added, “We have to save tyres for qualifying and for the race but we need to push too, because as soon as we put the new tyre on we have to do many things together such as working on the race line and working on the settings.”
