The first ever World Championship session at the new Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit was delayed by 30 minutes due to technical issues, but ended with Jack Miller on top from Efren Vazquez and Danny Kent as the Gran Premio Red Bull de la Republica Argentina got underway.
Miller (Red Bull KTM Ajo) topped the timesheet on his KTM machine with a 1’51.929. He was 0.733s ahead of Vazquez (SAXOPRINT RTG) and 0.836s clear of Husqvarna rider Kent (Red Bull Husqvarna Ajo).
Isaac Viñales (Calvo Team) and Miguel Oliveira (Mahindra Racing) rounded out the top five, both within 1.2s of Miller’s best time.
Alex Marquez (Estrella Galicia 0,0), Enea Bastianini (Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3), Niccolo Antonelli (Junior Team GO&FUN Moto3), Juanfran Guevara (Mapfre Aspar Team) and Jakub Kornfeil (Calvo Team) joined the top ten as all the riders begun the process of learning the new circuit.
Jules Danilo (Ambrogio Racing) was the only crash of the session, but escaped unhurt.
