Lorenzo leads WUP on birthday morning

Ready for his 200th Grand Prix race later today on his 27th birthday Jorge Lorenzo led the Jerez WUP by 0.257s from Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda), with Lorenzo’s colleague Valentino Rossi third (+0.403).

A lap of 1’38.983 was enough to give Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) the top spot and he looks in a determined mood as he goes in search of his first victory of 2014. Lorenzo starts today’s race in second place on the grid.

Also featuring in the Warm Up top five were Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP) and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda).

The top ten was rounded out by Yonny Hernandez (Energy T.I. Pramac Racing), Nicky Hayden (Drive M7 Aspar), Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3), Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) and Alvaro Bautista (GO&FUN Honda Gresini).

Danilo Petrucci (IodaRacing Project) and Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing) were late crashers in separate incidents. Abraham was unharmed, but a fracture of his left wrist from the WUP crash means Petrucci misses the Jerez race.
