Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup heads to Zhuhai

Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup heads to Zhuhai

Following the opening two rounds of the season in Qatar and Indonesia the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup riders will be back on track at China’s Zhuhai circuit over the 14th-15th June weekend.

The 4.3km, 14-corner track is located adjacent to the city of Zhuhai in China’s Guangdong province. The third round of the Cup will be a crucial weekend for the riders with two races taking place, one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday.

So far in the inaugural Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup season the Japanese participants are proving to be the riders on the pace, not only in the victory hunt but also in terms of the quest for the podium. Yuta Date won the race in Qatar and was joined on the podium by Kitami and Sasaki, whilst at Sentul the podium finishers were Toba, Mizuno and Date.

Perhaps the biggest threat to the Japanese at Zhuhai could come from Thai riders Atiratphuvapat and Sarapuech, who have been quick in practice and in races, but have been unlucky with crashes. Sarapuech has been particularly short of luck, crashing out when in the podium chase in both races.

Chinese rider Yuanhang Chen will of course be in the spotlight in Zhuhai as the only representative of his country in the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup. He will look to increase his points tally in front of the home fans, having notched only one so far with his 15th place finish in Qatar.
