Honda’s Nakamoto delighted with both riders

Following the highly dramatic Catalan Grand Prix in which Repsol Honda Team riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa would ultimately go head-to-head for victory, Shuhei Nakamoto has praised both of the Spaniards.

While Marquez collected his seventh victory from as many races at the start of the 2014 campaign, Pedrosa narrowly missed out after touching the rear of his team-mate’s bike on the final lap of the race.

“Marc has done a very good job - to be honest, unbelievable,” Nakamoto, Executive Vice President of HRC, commented during this week’s post-race test. “With Dani, at the beginning of the season he was struggling with his arm, but now he has it sorted out he is showing us his core riding skills and potential.

“I was very happy that both of our riders were fighting for the podium. I would like to continue that way, with both riders showing us good performances. In terms of both riders and the machine we are very, very happy.”

Marquez has now scored the maximum possible score of 175 points between the Grands Prix of Qatar and Catalunya, while Pedrosa has amassed 112 for third overall; with 11 Grands Prix remaining in 2014, Pedrosa sits five points in arrears of Movistar Factory Racing’s Valentino Rossi.
