Cortese looking forward to home round

Cortese looking forward to home round

Dynavolt Intact GP rider Sandro Cortese is more than looking forward to his home race at the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland this weekend. The Moto2™ rider is the official ambassador of the Sachsenring event.

After his difficult weekends at Barcelona-Catalunya and Assen, where Cortese collected two DNF’s, the former Moto3™ World Champion wants to turn his fortunes around at his home GP and transfer his strong results from qualifying sessions into racing success.

Cortese’s home race is highly significant for the 24 year-old from Berkheim – not least since 2012 when he took the first Sachsenring victory for a German rider since Dieter Braun 41 years earlier, by winning in the Moto3™ class.

The German Grand Prix will mark the halfway point of the 2014 World Championship and Cortese aims to go into the summer break on a high note.

“I am more than looking forward to the weekend!” Cortese said. “It’s the perfect moment now to have the home race. The last races have been tough and disappointing for us, as we risked everything at Assen and didn’t get any reward for that. We took a decision and it went wrong. I think we will be able to get that right at the Sachsenring – with all the crowd supporting us. As the official ambassador of the Sachsenring I want to perform well of course.”
