Bradl recovers to seventh after early mistake

Bradl recovers to seventh after early mistake

Having qualified in ninth place at the Hertz British Grand Prix, Stefan Bradl dropped to 13th in the early stages of Sunday’s Silverstone race but recovered to finish seventh.

The German rider suffered two crashes on Saturday and was only able to qualify in the last spot on the third row for the start of the race. He found the going tough in the early laps due to a lack of rear grip.

An error saw him allow a group of riders to get in front of him but the determined LCR Honda MotoGP rider had the pace to make a significant recovery, overtaking six riders as the race progressed.

At the conclusion of the 12th race of the year Bradl commented, “Overall it’s not a bad result for us. I took a good start from the third row but in the beginning of the race I made a big mistake and dropped to 13th place. After that I did my best to recover the situation trying to get closer to the guys in front of me. I was able to catch them but suddenly Bradley Smith had a technical issue and I got stuck behind him.”

“Once again I had to regain my pace but in the last laps I passed (Andrea) Iannone and (Alvaro) Bautista and managed to finish seventh. We missed some rear grip in the first part of the race so we will work on this point for Misano.”
