Bradl secures valuable fourth place in dramatic race

LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl equaled his best result of the season in fourth place at the Grand Premio Movistar de Aragon on Sunday.

The 23-lap race in Aragon was one of the most breathtaking contests of the season with many riders crashing due to the tricky conditions, including the championship leader Marc Marquez.

Starting from the third row on the grid, Bradl had podium aspirations but the challenge of the conditions was complicated for the entire field with heavy rain in the final part of the race. The German ended the 14th race of the year with a positive fourth place which gives him confidence before the forthcoming back-to-back flyaway races.

Bradl commented, “Well it was a crazy race for us. Firstly we lost some positions at the start because our clutch was not working well. Then I was on the hard rear tyre whilst the others were on the soft except for Marc and Dani. With the mist I didn’t have enough confidence to lean over because I was losing the rear on corner entry so I dropped back some positions. Then it started to rain more and more and I thought about going in one lap earlier but I had many things in my head at that moment. The pit stop was perfect so we gained some positions when we changed the bike.”

“After that the podium was very close but I lacked the final push to go for it. Anyway, in the past we had difficult races so this fourth place is very important for us especially before the overseas races. I must thank my team because they did an excellent job in these tricky conditions.”
