Marquez recovers from crash to place second in FP1

MotoGP™ World Champion Marc Marquez has the chance to clinch the 2014 premier class title this weekend in Japan, but things got off to a tricky start for him in FP1 as he crashed early in the session.

Marquez went down at turn 5 and ended up in the Motegi gravel - with the rider forced to dump the bike after he ran long going into the corner. Marquez was soon on his feet and was rushed back to the Repsol Honda box on a scooter by a track marshal, later appearing to indicate to his team that the crash was caused by him temporarily not being able to brake properly.

Marquez got back on track quickly on his second bike and set a best time of 1’46.004 to end the session in second place, +0.166s behind pace setter Jorge Lorenzo.
