Lorenzo shows Saturday morning pace

Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) was the leading rider in MotoGP™ FP3 at the Tissot Australian Grand Prix, joined in the top three by Marc Marquez and Andrea Iannone – despite a late crash for Iannone. Dani Pedrosa dropped to 11th overall and must therefore go into Q1.

Lorenzo’s best time of 1’29.157 put him almost 0.3s clear at the top with Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), Iannone (Pramac Racing), Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) and Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech3) also in the top five.

Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3), Aleix Espargaro (NGM Forward Racing), Cal Crutchlow (Ducati Team), Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP) and Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) were all safely within the top ten, though Espargaro’s best time was from Friday.

Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) was fractionally outside the top ten and must therefore try his luck in Q1 later.
