Gazzetta - Burgess: ‘I understand the choice Rossi made’

In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Jeremy Burgess was unable to contain his joy at Valentino Rossi’s second win of 2014, obtained on Sunday at Phillip Island.

After 14 seasons together, yielding seven World Championship titles, Burgess and Rossi parted ways at the end of 2013, when the Italian rider decided to replace the Australian with new Crew Chief Silvano Galbusera. Burgess told Gazzetta, “This year Valentino has been more comfortable on the bike than when we left Yamaha for Ducati in 2010. Already at the end of last year you could see his progress.”

On Rossi’s decision to make the change in Crew Chief, Burgess added, “It was a good decision. At one point in his career Andre Agassi decided to leave his coach and it proved to be a big decision. Not because he was doing badly, but because he was looking for a new path and a different motivation.”
