Bradl rides well in stifling heat to secure fourth

The Q2 session at the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix saw LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl qualify in a strong position at the head of row two.

With an ambient temperature of 35°C and the track temperature reaching 58°C the Sepang qualifying sessions were extremely demanding for the MotoGP™ field but Bradl was able to ride his RC213V machine to the fourth on the grid - for his penultimate race with his current team.

The German missed the Malaysian GP last year after suffering a right ankle fracture.

He commented, “We can be happy with this good qualifying result. We had the chance to follow Marquez in the last run using a different strategy that time and it ended up with a strong result for us. I am really happy to be fourth on the grid especially after the last two qualifying sessions where we were not able to qualify better than the third row. If we can have a good start tomorrow we will have the potential to follow the guys in front.”

“We wait and see what the weather is going to be like. Today it was extremely hot like 60°C on the asphalt with the tyres almost cooking and it was very physically demanding for everybody. I’m sure it will be a close and tough race but we are in good form here in Sepang.”
