As this week’s Jerez test continued on Thursday rain affected the riders and teams present, with Jonas Folger (AGR Team) top of the timesheet despite having only lapped six times.
Intermittent rain for much of the day and a wet-drying track in the afternoon meant it was difficult for the teams to make significant progress with Folger marking the best time on the last of his six laps (1’45.773s), with the closest rider behind him being Azlan Shah (Idemitsu Team Asia).
Malaysian rider Shah was two seconds off Folger’s best, getting 37 laps under his belt. Folger’s best time meanwhile was nearly three seconds off the top time of Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) on Wednesday, due to the mixed conditions.
Also in the Thursday top five were Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Team Asia), Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) and Louis Rossi (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2).
Moto2™ World Champion Tito Rabat (Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) was sixth fastest and almost 11 seconds down on Folger’s time as much of his work was undertaken on a wet track in the afternoon. Rabat’s friend, new colleague and fellow 2014 World Champion Alex Marquez got 15 more laps of Moto2 experience and his work will continue on Friday.
