Formulamoto: Cecchinelli on regulation changes for 2016

In a recent interview with digital magazine fórmulamoto the Director of Technology for MotoGP™ Corrado Cecchinelli spoke about the World Championship’s electronics packages and the implementation of updates for the change of regulation which will take place in 2016.

On the universal ECU hardware and software to be used from 2016, Cecchinelli explains: “At the moment we are jointly developing the software and all parties can make changes for approval. Once admitted, they are passed to Magneti Marelli for implementation. In June 2015 all software in use will be frozen and thereafter all the manufacturers will contribute to make the definitive software for 2016.”

Another matter is that the universal electronics packages must be able to manage seamless gearboxes from different brands. On this challenge, the Director of Technology stated, "It has not yet been decided how that will be, perhaps several types seamless gearboxes will be defined, eg Type A, Type B, but it remains to be seen.”
