Jimenez opens new chapter as crew chief to Kallio

Experienced technician Antonio Jimenez has secured a new role with the Italtrans Racing team in Moto2™ for 2015, working as crew chief to Mika Kallio.

The news was confirmed this week and Jimenez’s arrival in the team is complemented by Aligi Deganello’s signature as crew chief to Franco Morbidelli.

Next year will be Jimenez’s 27th season in the World Championship. He has worked with many riders over the years, as a crew member, as a suspension technician and later as chief mechanic.

In 2006 he joined the Gresini team, with whom he worked for nine seasons - most recently as chief mechanic to Alvaro Bautista - before deciding to start a new adventure in the intermediate category for next year.

Jimenez commented, “I had several options for the 2015 season, to stay in MotoGP or move to Moto2. The proposal from Italtrans was one of them, but very tempting since the first moment, as it is a well established team with a very promising future, two riders bringing a strong combination of freshness and experience, and Aligi is a person I already know and appreciate. It’s an interesting bunch of people, capable of doing a great job. I love the family like atmosphere in the team, it reminds me of the 250cc years.”
