MotoGP™ track action continues in Jerez

MotoGP™ track action continues in Jerez

Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki MotoGP) have completed their latest test outing in Jerez. On Tuesday, Alvaro Bautista and Marco Melandri (Factory Aprilia Gresini) joined the action and from Wednesday they will be accompanied by both Ducati Team and NGM Forward Racing.

Tuesday marked this week’s second day of testing in the south of Spain, with MotoGP™ outfits sharing the circuit with their Eni FIM Superbike World Championship counterparts. Unlike on Monday, no rain affected proceedings, although a damp track early on did postpone any activity until well past noon.

Tuesday saw Aprilia joining in alongside Suzuki, as well as various Superbike teams. The best MotoGP lap time of the day came from Espargaro in the form of a 1’40.1, with team-mate Viñales managing a 1’40.7. However, the former Moto3 title winner and premier class debutant suffered two mechanical breakdowns which left him in the garage for more time than expected during the day.

Bautista’s leading effort for Aprilia was a 1’41.100, with MotoGP returnee Melandri posting a 1’41.682 and putting another 56 laps under his belt. The full lap times of the Aprilia riders were provided by the team, while the other times mentioned were collected via transponders.

Wednesday will see Ducati launching its programme for the week with Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone, as well as Forward Racing with Stefan Bradl and Loris Baz. Also present will be Avintia Racing, running both Hector Barbera and Mike di Meglio, as well as a couple of Moto2™ teams: Sito Pons’ Paginas Amarillas HP 40 squad will be in action with Luis Salom and new team-mate Alex Rins, as Team QMMF plan to hit the track with Anthony West and Julian Simon.
