Rabat thanks ‘superb’ Kallio for title fight

Newly-crowned Moto2™ World Champion Tito Rabat has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Marc VDS Racing Team colleague Mika Kallio following their entertaining battle for the title in this year’s intermediate class season.

Although Rabat was able to wrap up the ultimate prize at the penultimate event of the season in Malaysia, the Spaniard was pushed all the way by Finnish team-mate Kallio. Ultimately, the Barcelona rider became a World Champion for the first time while Kallio collected the runner-up spot for the third time (having finished second to Tom Luthi and then Alvaro Bautista in the 125 ranks of 2005 and 2006, respectively).

"Having Mika as a team-mate was the best thing that has ever happened to me," Rabat comments in his World Champion interview with "He is a great guy both on and off the circuit. Off the track, each rider did his own job, but we did share information with each other. The important thing is that we fought only where we were supposed to, which was on the race track. On-track he is superb; he made no mistakes and never failed or gave up."

In 2015, Rabat remains in Moto2™ as he runs the famed number one plate on-board his Kalex. He is looking to become the first back-to-back title winner in the intermediate class of the World Championship since Jorge Lorenzo in 2006 and 2007.
