Rest required for Aleix Espargaro after knee ligament injury

Suzuki MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaro will need to take a break from winter training, after sustaining a leg injury whilst riding a flat track bike.

A crash during a training session near the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit means Espargaro’s preparations for 2015 during the month of December will be interrupted but he is not expected to miss preseason tests in the New Year.

The official Suzuki MotoGP Team rider crashed on 6th December whilst training with his new teammate Maverick Viñales and ligaments in his left knee are partially ruptured.

"It’s a damaged cruciate ligament in the left knee and a torn medial collateral ligament in the same knee," the rider explained to "I visited Dr. Mir, did the relevant tests and fortunately any need to operate was ruled out. That's the good news. I'm doing physiotherapy every day intensively and in a month I'll be fine."
