Aegerter converts first pole to first win
Monday, 14 July 2014

The eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland saw Dominique Aegerter (Technomag CarXpert) secure his maiden pole position and win.

The Swiss rider is known for bringing in highly consistent results, but had previously been unable to clinch victory, despite getting amongst the podium positions.

His 129th start saw a change to this as he was able to achieve his first pole position, which he finally converted into a win.

Mika Kallio (Marc VDS Racing Team) put up a strong fight, leading for most of the race. Aegerter overtook the Kalex rider with just a couple of laps remaining but the Finn put pressure on immediately. The Swiss rider kept his cool and was able to win by just 0.091s from Kallio.

Aegerter sits fourth in the Championship, 14 points behind Moto2™ rookie Maverick Viñales (Paginas Amarillas HP 40).

Aegerter commented, “I finally got my first victory. Everything came together this weekend. It was a very hard race, Kallio was a tough opponent. He made very few mistakes but I am very happy to take my first win and a big thank you to Suter, my team and my sponsors. We’ve had an up and down season but it is all worth it today.”

“It is quite difficult to keep the pace and concentration, the track is very small. There are many lefts so it is very hard on the left hand side. Kallio’s pace was really strong and I had to give full gas for the whole 29 laps. Going into the Summer break with 25 Championship points is incredible. I have the Suzuka 8 Hour race waiting for me before we comeback in Indianapolis. It will be a very tough but hopefully we can get a good result.” he added.
