Best premier class result to date for Iannone

Argentina MotoGP race reaction Iannone
Sunday, 27 April 2014

Pramac Racing’s Andrea Iannone ran with the frontrunners in the early stages of Sunday’s Argentina race, holding on for sixth at the end to secure his best result yet in MotoGP™.

The young Italian, who graduated to the premier class last year, had a good race in Texas two weeks ago to finish seventh and he was determined to fight for another strong result at Termas de Rio Hondo from eighth on the grid.

Iannone made a good start to the race and was running in third position at one stage, before the likes of Dani Pedrosa, Stefan Bradl and Valentino Rossi upped the pace and overtook the sophomore rider.

However, he was still able to hold his ground over the final laps, to finish as the top Ducati rider at the Gran Premio Red Bull de la Republica Argentina.

Having moved up to fifth place in the World Championship standings he said, "I'm very happy with how the race went, I pushed hard from the start and I was trying to stay in the leading group, but unfortunately, between the eighth and the tenth lap I was forced to slow down due to tyre wear.”

“I have more feeling with the bike than before and the work with the team is always improving. I want to thank everyone for the excellent work done this weekend in Argentina and thank Ducati for all the support they give me.”
