MCN: ‘Honda not planning to axe Pedrosa’

Wednesday, 22 January 2014

Repsol Honda Team head Livio Suppo has insisted that his outfit is not planning to ditch Dani Pedrosa at the end of the 2014 MotoGP™ season, with rookie team-mate Marc Marquez having wrapped up the title on his first attempt last year.

"Like it or not, but Dani has always been a title contender," Team Principal Suppo tells Motorcycle News. "We saw him get injured in Germany when he was leading the championship and this had a big impact on his season.

"He has such bad luck and this has been unbelievable. Like always I think he has the potential to be World Champion...he has been with HRC a long time - and it is true that it is a long time without winning the championship - but there are only three riders that are in another league. Dani is absolutely one of them.

"If you want to have a strong team, then Dani deserves to be there and I think he will have the same chance to win again."
