Lorenzo ‘very satisfied’ with electronic changes
Monday, 16 June 2014

Jorge Lorenzo was all smiles regarding the latest electronic changes for Movistar Yamaha MotoGP as Barcelona’s post-race test was staged on Monday.

Having spent the first half-hour assessing the short loop of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya’s Turn 10, which was being sampled in a bid to possibly race on in the future and thus enjoy a greater amount of run-off area, Lorenzo focused on his plan for the day.

“With the new (2015) engine, at the moment it is a little worse and we have to work on it,” began the MotoGP™ World Champion of 2010 and 2012, who finished Sunday’s race in fourth position. “With the electronics we found something that can make the bike more stable under acceleration, which I wanted, so I am very satisfied. With the new exhaust, for the moment we are not clear about whether it is better or worse, so we must re-check in Aragon.”

While Lorenzo ended the day in third place, the best lap time for team-mate and Sunday second-place finisher Valentino Rossi was only quick enough for tenth on the test timesheet, although the Italian stressed that he was not aiming for out-and-out pace on this occasion.

“We have some interesting stuff to try,” ‘The Doctor’ explained. “We have a different engine to try for 2015, plus a Bridgestone front tyre which was important and which was okay. I feel good with the bike. We have found something new and now we have to continue like this. Sincerely, I’m not very fast; I did a 42.1 at the end, whereas the other guys went faster, but I didn’t push much for the time attack – just trying to understand if the materials are better.”

The Yamaha riders will now travel to MotorLand Aragon, where they will resume testing.
