Tuesday rain a frustration for Kallio

Mika Kallio was unable to complete his full programme at Mugello on Tuesday, with the single day of post-race Moto2™ testing being affected by inclement weather.

Having risen from 13th on the grid to fifth place in last year’s Italian Grand Prix, Kallio performed a similar rise through the field last weekend as he finished sixth from 11th at the start. However, on Tuesday he had been looking forward to dialing out some of the issues he had suffered during the weekend itself.

“It was not too bad – we had many things in our mind for the bike settings: balance, height and also different rear tyres for the test,” the Finn explained to motogp.com. “However, we had a few wet hours and couldn’t spend as much time on the track as we wanted; actually, we completely missed one session because of the rain.

“In the end we didn’t have time to test all things on the plan. I had quite a lot of problems during the weekend; on corner entry while overtaking, I was somehow losing a lot of time and that was the area in which we needed to concentrate. So, I had a few things on my mind today and it was frustrating we couldn’t try them because of the rain.”

A third of the way through the 2014 campaign, Kallio sits second in Moto2™ to team-mate Tito Rabat, having won back-to-back races in Spain and France.
